I learned a new word today, Ekphrasis, it means expression or “art that explains or describes other art”.

It could be a vivid, verbal description of a visual work of real or imagined art, or it could be a visual work developed from the inspiration of words.

How cool it would be if we instituted this practice in schools and had students respond in writing to what a piece of visual art means to them, and/or vice-versa to respond with a visual art form to a piece of writing.

It could take art appreciation to a whole different level ,and tap into student creativity in a fun and interesting way.
